Airbrushing

Here are a couple of the airbrush activities. A sphere and a Cube. My sphere is decent, except the bowling ball holes are a little wonky. Other than that though, I think I captured the light source pretty well.
I had a lot of fun making the cube. It kind of looks like the logo for nintentdo or something. But Rusty told me to step things up so I am doing my hardest to push, push, push! It paid off, because the cube came out clean and transparent.

Number 11

This is my number 11 project. There are 9 planets and then the sun and the moon. My medium was airbrushing. For my redo I am going to try and do this project on black paper and then have white orbit lines for each of the planets. I think that will really help my composition and make the whole piece a little more dynamic. There are certain things i like about this piece but I am happy that I get to redo it because there are definitely things I want to improve on.

Iowa Postcard- The Des Moines Art Center

This is a little noodley. I need to work on the structure and the sculpture in the front. I like the colors I used in the watercolor, but I just need to tighten things up now! :)

5 Best Pieces So Far

The first image I chose is this watercolor sailboat. I felt like this was the first time I understood the idea of a loose technique. I tried to manipulate the paint in different ways and this time I let the paint do what it wanted to do, with a little bit of my own technique.
This next image is of a cherry blossom tree. I used a blotching technique for the flowers and used solid line and loose filler form with the inside of the tree and the grass. I really liked the way this one turned out.
This was a full size watercolor of the antique photo we chose. I really enjoyed this assignment. I think I accurately depicted her sweetness and shyness. I liked the soft colors I chose as well. Overall I was really pleased with this piece of work.
This was the first piece of artwork I have ever done that I was truly proud of. I have never rendered someone and made them look like the person I am trying to render. This was a very encouraging step for me in illustration and art as a whole. I had a lot of motivation and I think I used it accurately to produce this watercolor.
This 5th piece was my first image gauche montage. I really liked the colors I used and the objects turned out pretty well. I really like the background sky and the anchor. I wish the sailboat was a little bigger so there could be more detail. I think the bottom of the lighthouse could use more work and some different stroking to show the curved shape of the lighthouse.

This is the image I am using for the homestate postcard. My homestate is Iowa and this is the Des Moines Art Center. I am going to do this piece in line art using a micron pen and then will overlay some of it with a light watercolor wash.
