Orange and Phone Line Drawings

I had a lot more confidence going into these to pen drawings. I felt like I knew what I needed to do and I was able to execute it. Some of the lines on the phone are going the wrong direction, but besides that I am happy with it. For my orange, i really liked the white space and how it interact with the few marks. I then started to add in a black background and ended up needed to put sharpie throughout the whole piece. I regret this decision because i think it got too dark and overwhelming in some places. I like using watercolors, and I am excited to learn more techniques and master this form of art. I think it will be extremely helpful in the real world.

Line Art of 10 Things I See Everyday

It was fun picking 10 things I see on a daily basis. All of these things I see regularly, at least lately. I really enjoyed doing some of them and others were very difficult. I used a lot of implied line for the OP drawing and the shower head and I think that worked pretty well. I wish the line drawing of Rebekah actually looked like Rebekah. I am still learning though and I have definitely been making some serious progress. The ones that I have to do on a full sheet of paper and with color are my phone and the orange. I was really surprised by these choices but I think that I will be able to do them effectively and hopefully I can improve my technique and accuracy. I used the sharpie for my wallet and part of my hair product but the other 8 I used only micron pen.

8.5 x 11 in Line Pen Drawing

For this illustration I didn't use the artograph, but used my laptop screen to get accurate proportions. Then I went in and starting the hatch marks. I think the illustration turned out fairly well. I agree with Rusty about adding more value around the feet and in a few other places. I think that it would be very beneficial to the piece as a whole. Again, I learned a lot from this exercise. Learning techniques in this slow process really have helped me get more aquatinted with this concept of art. I did this particular illustration on marker paper. I used matte paper before and the sharpie markers tended to not work as well. On this assignment I used a micron pen instead of sharpie because I felt like the sharpie tip would be too thick for the hatch marks.

Line Drawings

Ten Half Paper Black Medium Line Drawings
Assigned Monday January 11th
Due Wednesday January 13th
I am really looking forward to getting to use this class as a chance to improve my skills and knowledge. I can already see how these techniques will be extremely useful in the "real world" and how they will definitely save time. These are my ten line drawings that were assigned on the first day of class on 8.5 x 5.5 inch paper. I used sharpie marker and micron pens. For many of them i used photo shop filters to get ideas and taped my paper to my computer screen. Even though you joke and call this "cheating", i learned a lot of drawing skills and techniques from this process. Especially in the one you commented on. It took a great deal of time and I got to observe the techniques very closely.
